The Bangladesh women's national under-18 field hockey team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Malaysia in the fifth-place classification round of Women's Hockey U-18 Asia Cup held in Kakamigahara, Japan, on Thursday.

With this defeat, Bangladesh finished in sixth position in the tournament. After the barren first and second quarters, Malaysia scored two goals in the 36th and 38th minutes in the third quarter and added the remaining two goals in the 52nd and 55th minutes in the last quarter.

Earlier, Bangladesh suffered a 12-0 defeat to hosts Japan in their opening match before bouncing back with a 2-0 victory over Chinese Taipei.

Bangladesh's semifinal hope was eventually shattered when they suffered a massive 6-0 goal defeat to their Chinese counterpart in their crucial group final match.    "BSS
