Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has arrested 23 smugglers along with 450 sacks of DAP fertilizer and a cargo boat used for smuggling in a drive in the outer anchorage area of Patenga police station in Chittagong.
Bangladesh Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan gave this information on Saturday afternoon.
He said that a special drive was conducted in the outer anchorage area under Patenga police station in Chittagong based on secret information. Later, a cargo boat carrying fertilizer for illegal smuggling to Myanmar was searched and 23 people were arrested along with 450 sacks of DAP fertilizer and a cargo boat used for smuggling.
He also said that the process of transferring the seized fertilizer and the detained persons to Patenga Model Police Station for further legal action is underway.
The estimated market value of the seized fertilizer is Tk 15 lakh 75 thousand.
He said the Coast Guard will continue such operations in the future to prevent smuggling.
