Health Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam on Friday said that the ideals of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman are still relevant in the present time.

The secretary said this as the chief guest of a dua mahfil and food distribution program among orphans and madrasa students at Jamiya Arabia Khadimul Islam Madrasa in Kafrul, Mirpur-13, Dhaka, marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Bir Uttam Ziaur Rahman.

The event was hosted by BNP Bankers and Financial Institutions Employees Association where the organization’s Convener, Sheikh Mohammad Zayed Al Fattah, chaired the event.

In his speech, Dr. Rafiqul said Ziaur Rahman re-introduced multi-party democracy in Bangladesh and was the architect of modern Bangladesh. He said Zia’s contributions to rebuilding a war-ravaged nation, achieving economic emancipation, and creating a production-oriented society would be remembered in history.
