Ad-din Foundation on Tuesday announced a series of administrative and infrastructural reforms following the
deaths of six newborns at the Moghbazar branch of Ad-din Hospital, an incident that sparked widespread concern across Bangladesh.
The foundation expressed deep sorrow over the incident and a preliminary investigation had already been completed. Based on the findings, disciplinary measures have been taken against personnel found negligent, while efforts are underway to strengthen monitoring mechanisms and review existing operational protocols.
A statement signed by the foundation’s Director (Company Affairs) Tariqul Islam Mukul said this.
The organization said it was implementing directives issued by the Government of Bangladesh and had begun extensive modernization work at its facilities.
According to the statement, three independent consultants have been appointed to oversee necessary modifications aimed at improving ventilation, air circulation and oxygen availability within the hospital premises. The bakery located above the foundation’s corporate office has also been permanently shut down.
The foundation further announced a change in leadership.
Dr. Sheikh Mohiuddin resigned as the Executive Director, and the Board of Directors has appointed Professor Jamalunnessa, PhD, in the post.
Highlighting its longstanding role in public welfare, Ad-din Foundation noted that it had been serving disadvantaged communities since 1980 through healthcare, medical education, vocational training and income-generation support programs.
The statement claimed that in the past 29 years, the Moghbazar branch alone had provided treatment to more than 1,57,73,291 patients. Until June 11, 2026, the hospital’s outpatient department served around 2,000 patients daily.
The facility employs 1,790 doctors, nurses and support staff, while its affiliated medical college has 646 students, including 209 international students.
Reaffirming its commitment to patient care, Ad-din Foundation said it remains dedicated to ensuring quality healthcare services, patient safety and accountability in medical treatment.
