The government has decided to deploy the army in six districts across Bangladesh to prevent any acts of sabotage surrounding the founding anniversary of the Awami League on 23 June, as the party’s activities remain banned.

An official of the Political Wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs said the decision was made to deploy troops in the country’s Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Faridpur, Gopalganj and Chattogram districts.

The official also said that an order in this regard would be issued by Monday.
