Two persons, including a female SSC examinee, committed suicide in Gopalganj and Kurigram districts on Sunday.
GOPALGANJ: A head-teacher committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree outside his house in Dariyarkul Village of Patgati Union in Tungipara Upazila of the district early Sunday.
Deceased Bidyut Kanti Roy, 58, was the head teacher of Patgati Munshipara Government Primary School in the upazila.
Quoting his family and local people, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Tungipara Police Station (PS) Moslem Ali said that Bidyut Kanti Roy was burdened with huge debts. Being conceited, he might have committed suicide. Later in the morning, locals saw his body hanging from the tree and informed the police station. The police recovered the body and sent it to Gopalganj 250-bed General Hospital for an autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed with Tungipara PS in this incident.
RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM: An SSC examinee committed suicide by hanging herself with a veil in the Khitabkha Salim Bazar area of Ward No. 8 in Gharialdanga Union of Rajarhat Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased Nipa Rani Roy, 18, was the daughter of Nirmal Roy of the area and an SSC examinee of this year.
Police and locals said that when the house inmates got no response from her despite calling, they went inside the house and found her hanging body. On information, Rajarhat PS went there and prepared an inquest of the body.
The police are also investigating whether the incident was suicide or there was some other reason behind it. An unnatural death case was filed with Rajarhat PS in this incident.
Officer-in-Charge of the PS Md Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident.
