GOPALGANJ, June 23: The three-day National Fruit Fair-2026 has begun in Gopalganj with the theme “We will cultivate fruits, we will preserve them year-round.”
The fair has been organised to raise awareness about increasing fruit production, improving preservation practices and highlighting the importance of nutrition.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Arif-uz-Zaman inaugurated the fair.
The programme was presided over by Dr Md Mamunur Rahman, Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Gopalganj.
Among others, Superintendent of Police Md Habibullah, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Koushik Ahmed, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mafroza Akter, and Gopalganj Sadar Upazila BNP President Shikdar Shahidul Islam Lenin, along with officials and employees of the agriculture department, were present.
Addressing the inauguration, the DC said Bangladesh is progressing in all sectors, and the agriculture sector is advancing in line with that development.
Superintendent of Police Md Habibullah, in his remarks, highlighted the nutritional value of fruits, saying that a healthy life requires regular fruit consumption.
The fair will continue till June 25.
