PIROJPUR, June 30: A discussion meeting on disinformation was held at the Deputy Commissioner (DC)’s conference room in the town on Tuesday morning.
The district administration organised the event, with DC Abu Sayed presiding over the session. Parikkhit Chawdhuary, Deputy Director (DD) of the District Information Office under the Directorate of Information and Broadcasting, presented the keynote paper, while Assistant Director (AD) Saifuddin Al Madani moderated the proceedings.
The meeting was attended by Additional DC (General) Md. Alauddin Bhuiya Jony, other district-level government officials, and local journalists.
Speakers addressed the growing challenges posed by fake news, disinformation, and mal-information spreading across social media platforms. They noted that users are increasingly confused about facts, and a large segment of the population is being deprived of accurate information, leading to negative social consequences.
Organisers urged everyone to verify any news, information, or sensitive content before sharing it and to speak out against misleading narratives. They emphasised the need for collective action to effectively combat disinformation in the current context.
