Two commit suicide in Jamalpur

JAMALPUR, July 4: Two persons committed in two separate incidents in the district on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as Motaleb Sarkar, 55, son of late Abdul Hai Sarkar of Airmari Village under Sadhurpara Union in Bakshiganj Upazila, and Aishamoni, 15, daughter of Enayet Karim Ibrahim Master, of Chandpur Village under Rashidpur Union in Jamalpur Sadar Upazila.

According to local sources, Motaleb Sarkar went to bed on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, his family found his body hanging from a starfruit tree in front of their house. Police later recovered the body.

Officer-in-Charge of Bakshiganj Police Station Makbul Hossain said it would be confirmed after the autopsy whether it was a suicide or a homicide.

In the other incident, Aishamoni told her mother on Thursday morning that she did not want to continue her studies. Her mother encouraged her to keep studying and then went to the kitchen. A short time later, she returned to the bedroom and found her daughter hanging with a scarf.
