The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have extended financial assistance to young cricketer Mehedi Hasan Hridoy, who is currently battling a serious form of cancer.
The assistance was formally handed over on Sunday at a ceremony held at the Youth Building in Motijheel, Dhaka. Youth and Sports Minister A. H. Aminul Haque presented a cheque of Tk 500,000 to Hriday’s father, Abu Kashem, in the presence of senior officials from the ministry and the BCB.
According to officials, Hridoy, a promising cricketer from the domestic age-group circuit, has recently been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a severe form of blood cancer. The financial support has been provided as part of ongoing efforts to assist in his medical treatment.
During the event, the minister said that immediate steps were taken following directives from the relevant authorities and assured that the government will continue to stand by Hriday until his full recovery. BCB representatives also confirmed that the board is closely monitoring his treatment and will extend necessary support as required.
Officials from both the ministry and the BCB stated that coordinated assistance measures are ongoing to ensure continued medical care for the young cricketer and to support his family during this critical period.
