A college student died while undergoing treatment after allegedly being assaulted by rivals over a long-standing dispute regarding an access road in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon in Sabrang Union, while the victim succumbed to his injuries at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital early Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Shafi Ullah, 23, son of Hafez Mukhtar Ahmed of Puratan Para in Sabrang Union. He was a second-year undergraduate student at Hnila Mainuddin Memorial Degree College.

According to family members, Shafi Ullah was attacked around 4:00 pm on Saturday following a dispute over a road adjacent to their house. He was initially taken to Teknaf Upazila Health Complex with critical injuries before being referred to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital as his condition deteriorated. He died while receiving treatment at around 4:00 am on Sunday.

Habib Ullah, the victim's elder brother, said the family had been involved in a long-running dispute with their neighbours over the access road, and the matter was pending before a court. He alleged that before the legal process was concluded, neighbour Zahir Ahmed and his sons"Ismail, Ishaq, Idris and Ilias"along with several others attacked them, leaving Shafi Ullah critically injured.

The victim's father, Mukhtar Ahmed, alleged that his son was severely beaten and struck on the head with sticks. He said Shafi Ullah vomited several times while being taken to hospital.

Attempts to contact the accused, Zahir Ahmed, for comment were unsuccessful as his mobile phone was found switched off.

Confirming the incident, Sub-Inspector Shubho Mitra of Teknaf Model Police Station said a dispute over the use of an access road between Shafi Ullah and his cousins had led to the attack. He said the body has been kept at the morgue of Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
