A total of 48 examinees were expelled across the country for adopting unfair means in the HSC and equivalent examinations on the third day on Monday, surpassing the previous two days record, according to the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee.
Of the total, 43 were expelled from nine general education boards during the compulsory English First Paper examination.
Of 997,021 registered examinees, 971,987 sat for the exam, while 25,034 remained absent.
Dhaka Board recorded the highest number of expulsions with 10, followed by Cumilla with eight, Dinajpur and Mymensingh with seven each, Barisal with four, Rajshahi and Jashore with three each, and Sylhet with one. No examinee was expelled from Chattogram Board.
Two examinees were expelled from the Bangladesh Madrasah Education Board during the Bangla First Paper exam, while three were expelled from the Technical Education Board across subjects including Computer Office Application-2 and Career Guidance and Accounting.
Professor Syed Aktaruzzaman, chairman of the coordination committee, confirmed the figures in a notice issued on Monday.
