Two people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj District and Baraigram Upazila of Natore District on Thursday.
SIRAJGANJ: A mother and son, who were travelling in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw, were killed and three others injured when a passenger bus hit them between the Hatikumrul bus stand and the constructed Hatikumrul interchange area on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in Sirajganj on Thursday.
Police could not immediately reveal the name of the deceased boy. However, the mother's name is Mosammat Neela, a resident of Nurnagar Village in Kamarkhand Upazila.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station (PS) Md Ismail Hossain said that a Dhaka-bound passenger bus from Bogura hit the auto-rickshaw in the Hatikumrul area, leaving the mother and son killed on the spot and three others injured. On information, the highway police and locals rescued the injured and sent them to the hospital.
BARAIGRAM, NATORE: A battery-powered easy bike driver was killed and two others were injured after being hit by a freight truck on the Natore-Pabna highway in the Gopalpur Sarkarer Dhalan area of Baraigram Upazila of the district on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased Rantu Mia, 28, was the son of Tofejuddin Jhoru of Garmati Village in the upazila.
Bonpara Highway PS OC Moniruzzaman said that Rantu Mia was going from Garmati to Rajapur Bazar with two passengers on his easy bike at noon. On the way, a freight truck coming from the opposite direction lost control and hit the easy bike, leaving its driver killed on the spot and two others injured. Later, the injured were rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
