Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 406 people and filed 47 cases during its special operations across the capital city over the past 24 hours.
The information was disclosed in a press release issued on Sunday by DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations Division) Niaz Mehedi. According to the release, the arrests included 25 suspects from Ramna Division, 30 from Lalbagh Division, 53 from Wari Division, 40 from Motijheel Division, 66 from Tejgaon Division, 116 from Mirpur Division, 31 from Gulshan Division, 39 from Uttara Division and six by the Detective Branch (DB). During the drives, police recovered 21,622 pieces yaba tablets, 961 bottles of phensedyl, 17.5 litres of locally made liquor, 760 grams of cannabis, 13 grams of heroin, a pickup truck, a private car, eight mobile phones, an iron hammer, two machetes, a cleaver, an axe, a shovel, a knife and Tk 309,000.
