Dear Sir,
Flooding has become a recurring problem in Bangladesh during the monsoon, largely due to inadequate maintenance of rivers, canals and drainage systems. This year, Chattogram is facing a severe flood crisis.
Rising water levels have submerged homes and stranded thousands of families. Reports and images circulating in the media and on social media suggest extensive damage, including floodwaters affecting graveyards and making the burial of some deceased people extremely difficult. If these reports are accurate, they reflect the devastating impact of the disaster.
The floods have claimed lives, disrupted daily life, and created acute shortages of safe drinking water, food, and other essentials. Many families are living in fear and uncertainty.
I earnestly urge the government to intensify rescue and relief operations and appeal to people from all walks of life to stand beside the flood-affected communities of Chattogram.
