As severe floods continue to devastate several districts across Bangladesh, actor Tousif Mahbub has stepped forward to support affected communities by providing financial assistance for relief efforts in flood-hit Chattogram.
The ongoing floods have inundated districts including Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, Sylhet and Habiganj, while landslides have further worsened the crisis. Millions of people remain stranded, and the death toll has surpassed 50.
Concern over the humanitarian disaster has spread across the country, with many celebrities using their platforms to raise awareness and encourage relief efforts. Joining the initiative, Tousif Mahbub has extended financial support to help flood victims in Chattogram.
The news came to light through one of the actor's fans, Mohammad Iman, who is coordinating a relief mission in the flood-affected areas. After learning about the initiative, Tousif reportedly contacted him personally and made a donation.
Speaking to local media, Iman said, "A group of us will travel to Banshkhali in Chattogram on Tuesday to distribute relief supplies according to our capacity. We have prepared dry food, flattened rice, puffed rice, drinking water, oral saline, essential medicines and hygiene products for women for nearly 1,000 flood-affected people."
Despite his contribution, Tousif has chosen not to publicize the donation. He believes that everyone with the means should come forward during such disasters and that helping people is a shared responsibility.
In a Facebook post, the actor wrote, "We all return to the earth one day. The days we live in between should be dedicated to humanity. I feel fortunate to be able to do something for the people who have supported my work with love."
Several other figures from Bangladesh's entertainment industry have also voiced concern over the flood situation, urging people to support relief efforts and spread awareness. Many artists similarly joined humanitarian initiatives during the devastating floods of 2024
