Bangladesh and European partner countries have reiterated their common commitment to further strengthen long-standing bilateral relations and expand cooperation in various strategic sectors of mutual interest, including economic cooperation.
This issue was discussed at a meeting of the Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Advisor Humayun Kabir and five European ambassadors and senior diplomats posted in Dhaka at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon this afternoon.
The meeting held fruitful discussions on the long-standing friendly relations, growing economic partnership, and various issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and its European partners.
The meeting was attended by French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Serre-Charlet, Spanish Ambassador Gabriel Sistiaga, British High Commissioner Sarah Cook, European Union Charge d'Affaires Baiba Zarina, and German Charge d'Affaires Anya Karsten.
Ashiq Chowdhury, Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), was also present at the event.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the need to deepen and diversify cooperation in trade and investment, defense, civil aviation, and other sectors of mutual interest.
The discussions reflected the shared interest of Bangladesh and its European partners to further expand their mutual engagement to advance economic growth, increase investment, and advance long-term strategic cooperation.
Humayun Kabir expressed hope that the existing relations between Bangladesh and European countries based on mutual trust and common interests will be further strengthened in the future.
On the other hand, European diplomats reiterated their interest in further expanding their respective countries' multidimensional partnerships with Bangladesh. At the same time, they assured continued support for further strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.
The meeting was held as part of Bangladesh's ongoing diplomatic efforts to further consolidate its long-standing relations with its European partners and explore new areas of cooperation in various political, economic and strategic areas.
