Training for police personnel assigned to duties in the upcoming local government elections has begun at 114 venues across the country.
The two-day training is aimed at ensuring that police members perform their election duties professionally, according to Police Headquarters.
Inspector General of Police Md Ali Hossain Fakir formally inaugurated the training at the Headquarters venue at the Hall of Integrity at Police Headquarters on Wednesday morning. Senior police officials were present.
Police Headquarters said 38,847 police members who had not previously received election training are taking part in the programme at the 114 venues. Of them, 4,965 are participating in the first batch.
Earlier, 152,175 police members received election training for the 13th parliamentary election. They will receive a one-day refresher training ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
The refresher training will begin after the completion of the two-day election training, Police Headquarters said.
