SAAO killed in Noakhali road mishap

NOAKHALI, July 18: A Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer (SAAO) was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in the Rohitar Pole area of the Chaumuhani-Samirmunsirhat road in Begumganj Upazila of the district on Saturday morning.

The deceased Md Abdur Rahman alias Sumon, 38, was the son of Abdur Rashid Khan of Nateshwar Union in Sonaimuri Upazila of the district. He was working as a SAAO in Begumganj.

Locals said that Sumon left his father-in-law’s house in the morning to collect farmer card information from Ekhlaspur Union in Begumganj on a motorcycle. On the way, his motorcycle collided head-on with a truck in the said area and he died on the spot. The locals caught the truck but its driver fled.

Officer-in-Charge of Begumganj Police Station Mohammad Shamsuzzaman confirmed the incident.
