The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has revised its policy on the transfer and posting of assistant teachers at government primary schools, removing a controversial provision that allowed “dignitaries” to be included on transfer committees.
The ministry issued the amended policy last Thursday, officials confirmed. The previous policy, issued on June 21, allowed committee chairpersons to nominate “dignitaries” to upazila, district and divisional transfer committees. The undefined term drew criticism over fears of external influence and lobbying.
