A billion eyes on New York: World cup final promises a night of history and stars

The FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain is set to become more than just a football spectacle, with a record-breaking entertainment extravaganza planned at the New York-New Jersey Stadium. Featuring performances from some of the world’s biggest music and entertainment stars, the grand finale will combine football, global music and celebration on an unprecedented scale.
The closing ceremony will begin around one and a half hours before kick-off, starting at 1:30pm local time (11:30pm Bangladesh time). American rapper and singer Post Malone will headline the pre-match celebrations, joined by a lineup of internationally renowned performers.
Italian pop sensation Laura Pausini, American singer Nicole Scherzinger, British musician Robbie Williams and popular streamer IShowSpeed will also perform during the ceremony. Hollywood star Tom Cruise will make a special appearance, while Oscar-winning singer Jennifer Hudson will perform the United States national anthem before the match begins.
One of the biggest attractions of this year’s final will be the first-ever FIFA World Cup halftime show. Inspired by the Super Bowl format, FIFA has introduced a special musical performance during the first-half break in World Cup history. The show, organised in partnership with Global Citizen, will be creatively directed by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The halftime break has been extended from 15 to 17 minutes to accommodate the special performance. Pop icon Madonna, Latin superstar Shakira, South Korean boy band BTS, Canadian singer Justin Bieber and Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy are among the artists expected to take the stage.
The event will also feature an orchestra performance conducted by world-renowned maestro Gustavo Dudamel. Popular children’s characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets will appear as special attractions for younger audiences.
Demand for tickets has reached record levels ahead of the final. According to ticket tracking platform TicketData.com, the cheapest available ticket is priced at $7,595. TicketPick reported that the average ticket price has reached $11,327, making it the most expensive ticketed event in US sports history, surpassing the prices of the NFL Super Bowl and NBA Finals.
US President Donald Trump is also expected to attend the final. Alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino, he will present the World Cup trophy to the winning team. It will be Trump’s first appearance at a stadium during the tournament.
Bangladeshi fans will be able to watch the highly anticipated final live on BTV, T Sports and Somoy Television.
With a historic football battle, a star-studded entertainment lineup and a grand global celebration, the Argentina-Spain final is expected to become one of the most memorable World Cup events ever staged.
