World Bank Division Director meets PM Adviser Mahdi Amin

A courtesy meeting was held by the Division Director of World Bank Jean Pesme with PM’s adviser and Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, Mahdi Amin. The meeting held at the PM Office in Tejgaon on Tuesday. 

The bilateral discussions focused on implementing key government priority programs and exploring potential areas of collaboration between Bangladesh and the international financial institution.

During the meeting, priority issues were discussed, including the national expansion of Family Cards and Farmer Cards, nationwide job creation, boosting female employment, expanding technical and vocational education, and fostering economic empowerment for marginalized women at the grassroots level.

Both sides exchanged views on scaling up the Family Card initiative to effectively cover low-income and vulnerable populations, particularly women, while emphasizing the need to build a skilled workforce and strengthen employment-oriented education systems.

The dialogue also addressed strategies to fulfill electoral commitments, promote inclusive growth, enhance public welfare, and drive sustainable economic empowerment across all segments of society.
Expressing interest in sharing international development experiences with Bangladesh, World Bank representatives offered to provide technical assistance and collaborate jointly on the government's flagship socio-economic programs.

The World Bank delegation included Gayle H. Martin, Dhruv Sharma, Anika Rahman, Syed Rashed, Al-Zayed Josh, and Shrayana Bhattacharya.
