Farmer killed in Noakhali road mishap

NOAKHALI, July 21: A farmer, who was hit by a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in front of Kabirhat Police Station in the district on Monday night, died at a private hospital in the district town early Tuesday.

The deceased Md Safi Ullah, 60, was the son of Abdur Rashid of Jagdananda Village in Dhansiri Union of the upazila. 

Kabirhat Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Imdadul Islam confirmed the matter on Tuesday and said the police arrested the auto-rickshaw driver Md Yusuf, 27, son of Monir Ahmed of Ashrafpur Village in Batiya Union of the upazila.

Locals said that following the accident, Safi Ullah was seriously injured and taken to Kabirhat Upazila Health Complex and he died at a private hospital in Maijdi.
