Police arrest 55-year-old man over child rape attempt in Savar

Police have detained a 55-year-old man named Uthan Hari on charges of attempting to rape two children during a wedding ceremony in Boktarpur Porabari neighborhood of Savar municipality.

Savar Model Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Alim confirmed the arrest on Thursday, July 23.

The arrested individual, Uthan Hari, is the son of Isahak Ali of the Boktarpur Porabari area.

Police and local sources confirmed, accused took two children to a solitary area in Porabari Majhir Tek and attempted to rape them. One of the child managed to escape and informed the incidents to everyone at the wedding venue.

Locals immediately rushed to the spot, rescued the other victim, and detained Uthan Hari. They brought him to the wedding house and informed the police.

A team from Savar Model Police Station arrived at the scene around 11:30PM on Wednesday night and took the accused into custody.

ASI Md Alim stated that the incident took place on Wednesday evening. The family of a victim has filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Savar Model Police Station regarding the matter.
