The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 463 people on various criminal charges during its regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours. During the same period, 40 cases were filed.
DMP’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Niaz Mehdi confirmed the matter in a press released on Sunday.
According to the DMP, the arrests included 31 suspects from the Ramna Division, 54 from Lalbagh, 47 from Wari, 47 from Motijheel, 63 from Tejgaon, 125 from Mirpur, 36 from Gulshan, 59 from Uttara, and one by the Detective Branch.
During this drive, 70.100 kg of marijuana, 1,653 pieces of Yaba, 50 pure heroin, 86 bottles of Escafe syrup (Phensidyl), one foreign pistol, one magazine, four rounds of bullets, two pickups, seven mobile phones, 17,550 taka in cash from drug sales, and one victim were recovered from their custody.
Police said the special operations were conducted in different police station areas across the capital, leading to the seizure of narcotics and other evidence as well as the arrest of those involved.
Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
