Fosun Hospital Guangzhou, a member of Fosun Health, has completed the cell collection procedure for the first gastric cancer patient receiving treatment with Kailimei® (Satricabtagene Autoleucel Injection, R&D code: CT041) therapy pathway in the Greater Bay Area.

Professor Chen Tao, Director of the International Medical Center at Fosun Hospital Guangzhou, stated that the completion of this first patient cell collection marks the official initiation of standardized clinical application of the world’s first approved solid tumor CAR-T cell therapy product at Fosun Health, providing a new treatment option for eligible patients with advanced gastrointestinal cancers.

Cell collection represents the critical first step in the CAR-T treatment process. The patient will subsequently proceed through individualized cell manufacturing, pre-infusion preparation, treatment monitoring, and long-term follow-up.

Advancing Solid Tumors Treatment with Innovative Therapy at Fosun Health

Kailimei® is the world’s first approved CAR-T cell therapy product indicated for solid tumors. Its approval represents a major advancement of CAR-T therapy beyond hematologic malignancies into the field of solid tumors, offering a new therapeutic option for eligible patients with advanced gastric cancer and gastroesophageal junction adenocarcinoma.

For patients, the value of innovative therapies extends beyond the treatment itself. Successful clinical implementation requires access to standardized, continuous, and safe treatment pathways supported by qualified medical institutions.

As one of the first medical institutions in China to complete evaluation and certification by regulatory authority and carry out standardized clinical application of this product, Fosun Health’s completion of the first gastric cancer patient cell collection in the Greater Bay Area demonstrates both the clinical implementation of cutting-edge therapy and the hospital’s professional capabilities in managing solid tumor CAR-T treatment.

CAR-T therapy is a comprehensive medical process requiring stringent patient selection, coordination of cell manufacturing, risk assessment, multidisciplinary collaboration, and post-treatment management. Fosun Health has established a full-cycle cell therapy management system to provide professional support throughout every key stage of treatment.

Dedicated MDT Collaboration Enables Full-Cycle Management for International Patients

The patient had previously undergone 10 cycles of chemotherapy and targeted therapy in South Korea. However, disease control and symptom relief fell short of expectations, leading the patient to seek further treatment at Fosun Hospital Guangzhou under Fosun Health.

Following a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s condition, previous treatment history, and physical status, the hospital’s multidisciplinary team (MDT) developed an integrated oncology treatment plan combining chemotherapy and interventional therapy. After staged treatment, the patient’s overall physical condition improved, with ascites well controlled. Following further evaluation and communication, the medical team successfully connected the patient to the Kailimei® treatment pathway and completed cell collection. The patient has now entered the subsequent stages of individualized cell preparation and treatment readiness.

To support the complete CAR-T treatment process, Fosun Health has established a full-cycle management model covering patient assessment, cell collection and manufacturing coordination, pre-infusion preparation, early post-infusion monitoring, and long-term follow-up.

The cell therapy team is jointly led by two oncology specialists with Harvard postdoctoral experience and dual certifications in China and the United States. The team collaborates with specialists from oncology, hemodialysis, critical care medicine, and other disciplines to establish a dedicated MDT consultation mechanism.

The team’s core capability lies in proactive risk management, including pre-treatment risk stratification, dynamic monitoring and timely intervention during treatment, as well as continuous follow-up and supportive care after treatment, creating a closed-loop management system from risk prediction to recovery support.

From Technological Breakthroughs to Clinical Accessibility: Building New Capabilities in Cellular Therapy Services

The gastric cancer patient who completed the first Kailimei® cell collection in the Greater Bay Area has officially proceeded to individualized cell manufacturing and treatment preparation.

This milestone demonstrates that the world’s first approved CAR-T cell therapy product for solid tumors is being translated into a standardized clinical service capability that enabling patient access, supporting institutional adoption, and facilitating comprehensive professional management throughout the treatment journey.

Moving forward, Fosun Health will take the launch of clinical application of the world’s first solid tumor CAR-T therapy as a new starting point to further develop its professional cellular therapy system covering both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors.

The company aims to accelerate the transition of China-originated innovative therapies from technological breakthroughs to standardized and accessible healthcare services.

Leveraging its international healthcare collaboration network, full-cycle health management capabilities, and multidisciplinary diagnosis and treatment system, Fosun Health is committed to becoming a trusted platform connecting global patients with advanced medical resources in China, making innovative healthcare more accessible and delivering more professional, reliable, and convenient medical services to patients worldwide.
