Members of the Eastern University Working Committee embarked on a two-day recreational tour to the scenic Nikli Haor in Kishoreganj on July 23-24, enjoying the region's natural beauty and strengthening camaraderie through a series of cultural and social activities.

The tour covered several picturesque locations, including Pakundia, Itna, Nikli, Austagram and Mithamoin.

The journey began with a warm welcome from Eastern University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Farid Ahmed Sobhani, who hosted the delegation for a grand lunch at his ancestral home in Pakundia. His hospitality set the tone for the memorable trip.

The participants spent the night at a resort overlooking Nikli Haor, where they experienced the tranquil surroundings, enjoyed fresh local fish, took boat rides across the vast wetlands and walked along the embankment. The evening featured informal gatherings, music and cultural performances.

One of the highlights of the tour was a group excursion into the clear waters of the haor. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Sobhani joined the participants in the water, adding to the excitement and creating a memorable experience for everyone.

The delegation also travelled along the scenic Nikli-Austagram All-Weather Road, which stretches across the haor. During the journey, Mithamoin College hosted a cultural programme to welcome the Eastern University representatives.

Among those participating in the tour were Dr Abul Bashar Khan, Registrar of Eastern University; Professor Dr Abu Bin Ehsan, Convener of the Tour Committee and Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences; Professor Dr Md Abdullah Al Humayun, Chairman of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE); Syed Habib Anwar Pasha, Chairman of the Department of Business Administration; along with faculty members and university officials from various departments.

The organisers credited the successful planning and execution of the tour to Md Mohiuddin Majumdar (Ananda), Assistant Director and Head of the Public Relations Office, who served as Member Secretary of the Tour Committee.

The two-day retreat concluded with participants describing the experience as a memorable opportunity to strengthen professional relationships while enjoying the unique landscape and hospitality of the haor region.
