Cox’s Bazar airport set for new terminal

Cox’s Bazar Airport is set to begin domestic passenger operations at its newly built terminal from Monday (September 28), bringing the country’s major tourist destination a step closer to international air connectivity.
The new terminal will handle both arrivals and departures, with airlines preparing to shift passenger services to the facility.
The move is part of a broader plan to turn Cox’s Bazar Airport into an international aviation hub. International operations are expected to begin in October after final preparations.
The 17,956-square-metre terminal has check-in counters, immigration facilities, boarding bridges, baggage belts, escalators, security systems and passenger lounges. The airport’s annual passenger-handling capacity is expected to increase from around 730,000 to 1.8 million.
The upgraded facilities are expected to improve air connectivity and support the growth of tourism in Cox’s Bazar.
