2 injured as truck hits motorcycle on Dhaka-Mawa expressway

Two motorcycle riders were critically injured after being hit by an unidentified truck on Dhaka-Mawa expressway in Srinagar upazila.

The accident took place on the Samaspur Bridge in the early hours of Wednesday, July 29. 

The injured were identified as Atul Gazi, 27, and Ifrat Hossain, 26. Both are residents of the Kamrangirchar area in Dhaka.

They were on their way to visit Mawa Ghat when the accident occurred.

Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, Deputy Assistant Director of Munshiganj Fire Service and Civil Defense, said the Srinagar Fire Station received information around 4:00AM that an unknown truck hit a motorcycle from behind on the Mawa-bound lane on top of the Samaspur Bridge.

Both riders on the motorcycle were critically injured in the collision. Upon receiving the news, a rescue team from the Srinagar Fire Station promptly reached the spot, rescued the injured, and sent them to Srinagar upazila health complex.

The Fire Service official urged drivers to exercise maximum caution, adhere to prescribed speed limits, and maintain a safe distance to prevent road accidents. Legal action regarding the incident is currently underway.
