Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has rejected Hamas’s condition for surrendering its weapons, saying Israel must continue its military campaign in Gaza to prevent the Palestinian armed group from regrouping and launching another attack like the October 7 assault.

Hamas has formally stated that it is willing to hand over its weapons if Israel withdraws its troops from Gaza and stops further killings in the territory. However, Ben-Gvir dismissed the proposal, arguing that halting operations would allow Hamas fighters to rebuild their capabilities.

In a post on Telegram, Ben-Gvir said, “After the massacre of October 7, the blood of every Hamas member is on my head. Promising to stop killing Hamas members would mean giving them the opportunity to carry out another massacre.”

“Killings in Gaza must continue. Efforts to encourage Palestinians to leave the Gaza Strip must continue, and Israel must achieve victory,” he added.
