One more person has died of Aedes mosquito-borne dengue fever in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 54 this year.
During the same period, 153 new dengue patients were admitted to various hospitals across the country.
With the new cases, the total number of patients currently undergoing treatment has reached 1,167.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information in a regular press release on Friday, July 31.
According to the release, a total of 15,310 people have been hospitalized with dengue so far this year. Among them, 14,089 patients have been discharged after recovery.
Data analysis of this year's casualties reveals that females account for 61.1 per cent of total deaths, while males account for 38.9 per cent.
However, among total infected cases, 61.5 per cent are male and 38.5 per cent are female.
