Health Minister Sardar Md. Sakhawat Hossain on Saturday said that if the BNP-led government fails to deliver on its commitments, "no one will be able to live in the country," stressing that the current administration is the most dedicated government and prime minister Bangladesh has ever had.

The minister made the remarks while speaking to journalists after visiting the Bhedarganj Upazila Health Complex in Shariatpur on Saturday afternoon.

Addressing doctors during the visit, Sakhawat Hossain said that if the promises made following the July uprising are not fulfilled, it would not only be the government that faces consequences, but healthcare professionals as well.

"If we fail to implement the commitments made after the July uprising, it will not be only us who suffer, you will too. No one will be able to remain safe in their homes or workplaces because everyone knows everyone's actions," he said.

The minister urged healthcare professionals not to allow the country's health sector to deteriorate and called on them to work collectively to ensure quality healthcare for the people.

"We must work together to safeguard the nation's health sector and ensure good healthcare services for all. Doctors have a vital role to play in taking the country forward," he added.

Highlighting the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis, the minister said millions of Bangladeshis working abroad are sustaining the country's economy through remittances.

"If they had not sent money home, the country's foreign exchange reserves would have been depleted. People would not have had enough to eat, and salaries could not have been paid," he said.

He also stressed the need to build a healthy and capable younger generation, saying Bangladeshis should continue to strengthen their presence and contribution around the world.
