KHULNA, Aug 4: The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has installed a modern Reverse Osmosis (RO) water purification plant in Mongla’s Joymonir Ghol area of Bagerhat District to ensure safe drinking water for local residents and students.

BCG Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujon informed this on Tuesday.

As part of the government’s public welfare programme, BCG Base Mongla installed the plant on Joymonir Ghol Government Primary School premises on Tuesday morning to address the long-standing shortage of safe drinking water in the area. The facility will provide purified drinking water to teachers, students and staff of the school as well as people living in the surrounding locality.

The initiative is expected to help ease the area’s drinking water crisis, reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and promote better public health and hygiene.

The media officer said the BCG has long been conducting humanitarian and public service activities for people living in coastal and riverine areas and will continue such initiatives in the future.
