BOGURA, Aug 5: A Bogura court on Wednesday sent Gazi Salahuddin Tanvir, who was temporarily relieved from his post as Joint Member Secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), to jail in a case filed under the Cyber Security Act over an allegedly derogatory Facebook post about Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
As he was being taken from the courtroom, several agitated activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal allegedly hurled eggs at him inside the court premises.
Senior Judicial Magistrate of Bogura Sadar Cognisance Court Mehedi Hasan passed the order after police produced Tanvir before the court.
Officer-in-Charge of Bogura Sadar Police Station Ibrahim Ali said Tanvir was arrested during a raid in Dhaka on Tuesday night and later brought to Bogura.
