Hamza Chowdhury set for possible move to Azerbaijan’s Sabah FC

Bangladesh national football team midfielder Hamza Chowdhury could be heading for a new club, with Azerbaijan Premier League side Sabah FC reportedly interested in signing him.
Azerbaijani sports outlet OffsidePlus reported that Hamza is close to leaving Leicester City for Sabah FC and that the two sides have reached an agreement on personal terms. However, no official confirmation has been made and the transfer has yet to be completed.
Sabah FC has reportedly been pursuing Hamza for several weeks. If the necessary formalities are completed, he could join the club ahead of next season.
Hamza spent last season on loan at Sheffield United after previously playing for Watford on loan. He has not featured for Leicester’s first team recently.
The midfielder enjoyed some of his biggest club successes with Leicester, winning the FA Cup and FA Community Shield in 2021 and helping the club win the Championship in the 2023-24 season.
A move to Sabah could also give Hamza an opportunity to feature in European competition. The Azerbaijani club has reached the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League after progressing through the first two rounds.
If the transfer goes through, Hamza could therefore have the chance to play in the Champions League qualifiers next season.
