Two people were killed when a bus of Anannya Paribahan rammed into a tractor and later hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj regional highway in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj on Saturday morning.
The accident occurred around 6:15am in the Baratia Chowrasta Bazar area of Pakundia, police said.
According to police and local sources, the bus was travelling from Dhaka towards Kishoreganj when it crashed into the rear of a tractor parked on the regional highway near Baratia Chowrasta Bazar. The bus then hit a cyclist, identified as Renu Mia, who was beside the tractor.
The bus subsequently crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw parked in front of a shop owned by Md Masud at Baratia Bazar. The impact reportedly sent the auto-rickshaw flying about 25-30 yards, leaving it badly damaged. Selim, 40, was killed on the spot.
Three to four injured people were taken to the emergency department of Pakundia Upazila Health Complex by local residents.
Pakundia Police Station Officer-in-Charge SM Arifur Rahman confirmed that two people were killed in the accident. Police said the bodies would be sent for autopsy.
