Opposition adopts tactics like Hasina: Fakhrul 

LGRD Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday accused the opposition of adopting the same political language and tactics used by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, warning that such politics could undermine the country’s democratic progress. 

While addressing a programme at Rangpur District Shilpakala Academy he said, “They are also speaking in the same language that Hasina used to speak.” 

The programme was organised by US-based charity organisation ‘Love Share BD’. Its self-funded “Self-reliance Project for the Underprivileged” was inaugurated at the event, and 25 tea houses were handed over to 25 underprivileged people in Rangpur region.

Mirza Fakhrul said the government is only four to five months old but has already done many things. He expressed concern over what he described as the opposition's recent political role.

Regarding the gas crisis, he said Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company (Bapex), which works to explore and extract gas and oil, had been crippled but has now been revived.

He said tenders have been invited from foreign companies to explore gas in Bangladesh.

On the fuel situation, the minister said Bangladesh has to import oil and gas by ship, requiring billions of dollars in payments.
