JHALAKATHI, Aug 9: US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T. Christensen on Sunday visited the traditional floating guava market at Bhimruli in Jhalakathi, a popular seasonal attraction in the southern district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kawsar Hossain welcomed the Ambassador with bouquets when he arrived around 9am.

Christensen later toured the floating market on a small boat and tasted locally grown guavas.

Sitting on the boat, he observed the trade at the market and enjoyed the surrounding lush green landscape.

After spending some time at the floating market, the US ambassador left for Atghar Kuriana in Pirojpur by a trawler. Officials of the US Embassy and local administration accompanied him during the visit.
Talking to reporters at the end of his visit, the US Ambassador said he thoroughly enjoyed visiting the floating guava market. “The beautiful environment surrounded by greenery fascinated me,” he said."UNB
