A Dhaka court on Monday denied bail to six people, including New Dhara Bangladesh Chairman Momin Mehdi and Senior Vice-Chairman Shanta Farzana, in an Anti-Terrorism Act case filed with Shahbagh Police Station.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain passed the order after hearing arguments from both sides.
The other accused are Nurjahan Nira, Moniruzzaman, Aftab Mondal and Hari Sarkar.
The accused were shown arrested in the case filed by Babul Sardar on August 4 and sent to jail the following day.
According to the case statement, the accused and 50-60 unidentified people allegedly staged a procession and chanted provocative slogans in front of the National Press Club on August 4. They allegedly attacked members of the July uprising and others with sticks, pipes and other objects, leaving several people injured.
The complaint also alleges that the accused conducted anti-government activities through Telegram and other social media platforms with the aim of destabilising the government.
