Milk Vita price up by Tk 10 per litre

Milk Vita, the country’s state-run dairy brand, has raised the retail price of its pasteurised liquid milk by Tk 10 per litre.

The new prices came into effect on August 5, taking the retail price of one litre of Milk Vita milk to Tk 110. The price of 500ml standard low-fat milk has risen to Tk 60 from Tk 55, while 500ml toned milk now costs Tk 55, up from Tk 50.

The Bangladesh Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited, which markets Milk Vita products, said the price adjustment was necessary as the costs of collecting milk from farmers and processing it had increased.

Milk Vita sells around 77,000 litres of milk daily in Dhaka and surrounding areas. Its daily sales dropped to about 44,000 litres following the price hike but recovered to nearly 75,500 litres within a few days.
