Civil judge killed in Jamalpur road mishap

JAMALPUR, Aug 11: A civil judge of the Jamalpur District Judge Court was killed in a road accident in the Lahirikanda area of Jamalpur Sadar Upazila early Monday.

The deceased was AKM Samiul Haque Arnab, 27, a civil judge at the Islampur Civil Judge Court and the son of AKM Fazlul Haque Kashem, a former government secretary of Chichrakanda Village in Raipur Union of Barhatta Upazila in Netrakona District. His private car driver, Idris Ali, 44, was seriously injured and admitted to Jamalpur General Hospital.

According to Nazmus Sakib, officer-in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station, Samiul was returning to Jamalpur from Lalmatia in Dhaka by a private car. When the car reached Lahirikanda on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh road, it crashed into a rod-laden truck parked on the road. Samiul died on the spot. Police and fire service personnel recovered the body and sent it to the morgue.
