KCC administrator stresses quality edn for women

KHULNA, Aug 11: Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Administrator Nazrul Islam Manju has described Khulna Collegiate Girls’ School and KCC Women’s College as one of the leading institutions for women’s education in the south-western region.

He expressed gratitude to former KCC mayor Sheikh Tayebur Rahman, founder of the institution.

The KCC administrator was speaking as the chief guest at an orientation programme for first-year honours students of Khulna Collegiate Girls’ School and KCC Women’s College on Tuesday morning.

The KCC-run institution offers honours courses under Khulna University in Food and Nutritional Science, Fashion Design, and Child Development and Social Relationship. The Women’s College branch organised the programme to formally welcome students admitted to the three disciplines for the 2026 academic year.

Wishing the new students a bright future, Manju urged them to concentrate on their studies, develop their talents, establish themselves in life and contribute to the welfare of the country. He also called upon teachers to be more responsible in teaching while maintaining discipline and helping female students become ideal citizens. He stressed the need to develop not only the institution but all educational institutions in the city as model institutions.

Principal Prof Dr Md Shahidur Rahman chaired the programme, while school governing body member and KCC Chief Engineer Mashiuzzaman Khan attended as the special guest. Head of the Department of Food and Nutritional Science Dr Nasrin Nahar Begum delivered the welcome address.
