All students fail in two Rajarhat schools

 
RAJARHAT, KURIGRAM, Aug 11: None of the students from two schools in Rajarhat Upazila passed this year's SSC examinations, according to results published on Monday.

A total of 3,226 students from the upazila appeared for the SSC, Dakhil and equivalent examinations. Of them, 1,275 passed and 1,951 failed. A total of 71 students secured GPA-5.

The two schools with a zero pass rate are Taltala High School in Sadar Union and Brahmanpara High School in Chinai Union.

Twelve students from Taltala High School sat for the SSC examination, but none passed. At Brahmanpara High School, all four examinees failed.

School authorities blamed late registration, delayed registration fees and teacher shortages for the poor results.

Brahmanpara Head-teacher Shah Alam said the school is not MPO-listed at the secondary level and received permission for registration near the deadline, causing many students to leave.

“Only four students could complete the registration process. Several teaching posts, including science, remain vacant,” he said.

A student, Rakib, said they had little time to prepare and lacked teachers. All four students reportedly failed science despite doing well in other subjects.

Taltala High School Assistant Teacher Debaprasad Roy said the school is MPO-listed only at the junior-secondary level and has yet to appoint secondary-level teachers. Nine of its 12 examinees failed English.

Rajarhat Upazila Acting Education Officer Md Kamrul Hasan said both schools are non-MPO at the secondary level and appeared in the SSC examination for the first time.

“An investigation will be conducted and necessary action will be taken in consultation with higher authorities,” he said.
