All formalities have been completed for hearing the death reference and appeals in the case involving the rape and murder of child Ramisa.
The hearing is expected to begin after those in the Nusrat murder case in Feni and the Achiya murder case in Magura, Attorney General Ruhul Quddus Kajal confirmed on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, a High Court bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakraborty and Justice K M Rasheduzzaman Raja directed the Solicitor to appoint a state defence lawyer for the accused.
Following the directive, Supreme Court lawyer Hafizur Rahman Khan was appointed on June 25 to represent death-row convicts Sohel Rana and his wife, Swapna Akter.
According to the case, Sohel raped and murdered Ramisa on May 19, while his wife allegedly assisted him.
Dhaka Children’s Court Judge Masrur Saleqeen sentenced both to death. They were later sent to condemned cells and filed jail appeals challenging the sentences.
