Members of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit and local police cordoned off a four-story building in the Dakkhin Shyampur area of Savar on Tuesday evening (August 11).
A police source involved in the drive said the team seized several crude bombs and bomb-making materials from the scene.
Locals reported that CTTC personnel surrounded the residence shortly after 7:00 PM.
By 9:00 PM, CTTC members were seen positioned in front of the building near a waterlogged road in Shyampur. A Bomb Disposal Unit and officers from the local police station joined the operation.
Citing security concerns, CTTC personnel instructed bystanders and journalists to move away from the premises.
CTTC and police officers present at the site initially declined to make official statements to reporters.
However, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Savar Model Police Station Saiful Alam confirmed that five explosives were recovered from the Shyampur area in Tetuljhora Union at night.
He added that law enforcers surrounded the house as suspects were believed to be hiding inside.
