I never said I would not act again: Hasan Masood

Actor Hasan Masood has clarified that he has no plans to quit acting, saying his recent remarks about staying away from the profession were misunderstood.

Speaking to the media at a recent event, Hasan said he was not currently working in acting and had been focusing more on religious activities after performing Hajj. He added that he occasionally works in television commercials when he receives suitable offers.

His remarks sparked speculation on social media that he had decided to leave acting permanently. In a subsequent interview, however, the actor clarified that he remains interested in acting.

“I was wrong to say that. I said that I have not been acting for two years and occasionally work in TVCs. There is not much good content at the moment. But I never said that I will not act again,” he said.

Hasan said he would consider returning to television or film if he receives a compelling story and a suitable character. He also said religious practice and acting are not incompatible.

“You can practise your religion, and you can also pray on the shooting set,” he said, adding that directors and colleagues had always respected his prayer schedule.

Hasan also revealed that he has already returned to work after Hajj, acting in two television commercials since coming home.

He began his acting career with Mostofa Sarwar Farooki’s films Bachelor and Made in Bangladesh before becoming a familiar face on television. He has since appeared in several popular dramas, including House Full, Taxi Driver, FDC, Bou, Khunsuti, Graduate and Ronger Duniya.
