JnU student leader murder case ready for trial

A murder case over the killing of Jagannath University (JnU) student and Chhatra Dal leader Zobaid Hossain has been transferred to the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court for trial.

Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order on Wednesday (August 12). The court fixed September 13 for a hearing on framing charges against the accused, said Prosecution Department SI Kamal Hossain.

Zobaid was killed on October 19 last year while he was visiting his student’s residence in Armanitola, Old Dhaka, for tutoring. His body was later found on the stairs of the building’s third floor.

His elder brother Enayet Hossain Saikat filed the murder case with Bangshal Police Station on October 21.

Investigating officer Md Ashraf Hossain submitted the charge sheet on June 30, accusing Zobaid’s student Bargis Shabnam Barsha, her boyfriend Md Mahir Rahman and Mahir’s friend Fardin Ahmed Aylan.

The charge sheet said the investigation found a love triangle involving the victim and the accused. All three accused are currently in jail.
