Five more children died of measles and measles-like symptoms across the country in the last 24 hours ending Wednesday morning.

During the same period, 1,026 children were infected with measles or showed symptoms of the disease.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) provided the update in a press release issued from its control room on Wednesday (August 12).

According to the report, 84 children tested positive for measles in the last 24 hours, while 941 others received treatment for measles-like symptoms.

DGHS data showed that 786 children died of measles symptoms between March 15 and August 12 this year. During the same period, 99 children died of confirmed measles.

In total, 885 children died of measles and related symptoms during this period.

The total number of suspected measles cases reached 139,125 nationwide. Of them, 17,469 cases were confirmed through lab tests.

A total of 121,013 patients were admitted to hospitals, with 116,827 returning home after recovery.
