3 minors drown in Jashore

JASHORE, Aug 14: Three children drowned while bathing in Ikram Mollah’s pond near their house in Jamdia Village of Jamdia Union in Bagharpara Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were Sultana, 11, and Lamia, 13, two daughters of Nesar Ali of Jamdia Village, and Fahima, 10, daughter of Ashiqul Islam of the same village.

Their neighbour Mahbur Rahman said that after they went missing, their grandmother went to the pond with some people and saw them floating. They were quickly taken to the hospital, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

Masnun Abdullah, the on duty doctor at Bagharpara Upazila Health Complex, said, the children were brought to the hospital dead.

Officer-in-Charge of Bagharpara Police Station Shah Jalal Alam said the matter is under investigation.
