Bangladesh posted a formidable first-innings total of 426 against Australia on Day 3, securing a substantial 228-run lead.

Playing a Test match in Australia after 23 years, Bangladesh put up a spirited performance with both bat and ball.

Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ebadot Hossain for 7 as the final batter, who caught behind to keeper Alex Carey to wrap up the innings. Hazlewood was the pick of the Australian bowlers, taking 6 wickets. Taskin Ahmed remained unbeaten on 14.

Earlier, Mehidy Hasan Miraz was dismissed right after lunch after adding just one run, falling for 65. With that wicket, Hazlewood reached the milestone of 300 Test wickets.

Despite losing wickets, Bangladesh fought back on the third day. They resumed the day at 351 for 6, having lost three quick wickets for 11 runs late on Day 2. However, Miraz and the lower order pushed the team total past 400 and stretched the lead over 200.

Miraz brought up his 12th Test half-century off 117 balls on Saturday morning before falling shortly after lunch. Earlier in the session, Hazlewood dismissed Hasan Mahmud for 14 and Taijul Islam for 17 to claim his 299th Test scalp.

Bangladesh's large total was built on solid top-order performances. Tanzid Hasan Tamim scored a brilliant 101, while skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto contributed 84. Mominul Haque scored 49, while Mushfiqur Rahim added 36.
